Get Ready for the Welsh Junior Surf Series Awards Evening

The Welsh Surfing Federation is excited to announce a celebration of Wales’ rising surf talent, as we host the 2025 Welsh Junior Surf Series Awards Evening.

The event is for groms from U12s up to U18s, and will take place in Porthcawl on Sunday 14th December, from 5pm at the Rest Bay Café (upstairs).

This special evening will recognise the top four groms in each category following our three-stop Junior Series that saw the best young surfers in Wales compete at Rest Bay, Whitesands Bay, and Langland. Families, supporters and groms are invited to come together for food, drinks, and the official presentation of awards.

Spaces are limited, and the venue can only accommodate a set number of people at one time, so parents / guardians are asked to confirm attendance in advance.

Food options:

Groms: £10 for burger + chips + soft drink
Adults: £12 for burger + chips + bottled beer

A Three-Stop Showcase of Welsh Junior Surfing

This year’s Welsh Junior Surf Series featured three exciting grom comps delivered in partnership with local surf clubs:

WCSC Grom Festival at Rest Bay (Welsh Coast Surf Club)
The series began in Porthcawl, where the groms got stuck into 2-3ft surf to get the series' scoring underway.

Pembs Grom Comp at Whitesands (Pembrokeshire Surf Club)
Clean, punchy peaks set the stage for standout surfing in round two.

Gromageddon at Langland Bay (Langland Board Riders)
Our young shredders tore apart the ramps of Langland in a high-energy Junior Series finale.

Across all three stops, surfers battled for points in categories spanning U10 Mixed, U12 Boys & Girls, U14 Boys & Girls, U16 Boys & Girls, U18 Boys & Girls, and U18 Mixed Longboard. Their combined results have determined this year’s overall Welsh Junior Surf Series standings.
