Welsh Surfers Compete in Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro 2025

Wales has three surfers flying the flag this week at the Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro 2025 in Tenerife.

WCSC legend Greg Owen is leading the charge, having made it through his first heat in the Over-50 Masters division. Greg will be battling it out on the iconic left-hander at Las Palmeras, a wave perfectly suited to powerful rail surfing and experience that Greg has in abundance. With the +35 category now removed for 2025, the +40 and +50 divisions are stacked with elite European talent, making this year’s Masters title one of the most competitive yet.

Two of our brightest junior surf talents - Monty Cole (Gower Bays Surf Club) and Katerina Roth Gale (Langland Board Riders)  - kick off their Eurokids campaign tomorrow. Featuring the best surfers in Europe at U10, U12, and U14, the Eurokids event is the perfect stage for Monty and Katerina to showcase their skills and test themselves against the continent's finest up-and-coming young shredders.

U10 heats will run at El Centro, with finals potentially shifting to Las Palmeras depending on conditions. Both Welsh juniors have been turning heads on home shores this season, and they'll benefit hugely from this experience out in Tenerife.
