GB Cup on at Thurso this weekend
The GB Cup has been officially called on and will take place this weekend, running from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 October at Thurso, Scotland.
With conditions looking changeable, officials have yet to confirm which break(s) will be used. However, with powerful swells in the forecast, the stage is set for a true showcase of the finest surfing talent from across Britain.
The prestigious event will see 12-person national teams from Wales, England, Scotland, and the Channel Islands go head-to-head for overall team honours, while surfers also contest individual titles in the Open Men’s and Open Women’s divisions.
England arrive as defending champions following their victory in Jersey last year, but Wales will be looking to challenge hard for the title in Scottish waters.
This marks the competition’s return to Scotland for the first time since 2021, when the event ran under COVID restrictions. Hosting duties rotate annually among the home nations, with Scotland once again taking centre stage for 2025.
Thurso-East has been selected as the primary contest venue, renowned for delivering some of the most powerful and high-performance waves in Europe. Backup locations, including Brims Ness and Sinclairs Bay, are on standby should conditions require a move.
