'Promising Athletes Programme' gives 1 year gym membership at Parkwood Leisure Centres
WSF is pleased to share an exciting opportunity for surfing athletes across Wales: Parkwood Leisure’s Promising Athletes Programme offers eligible national and regional athletes the chance to access 12 months of free membership at local leisure centres - including fitness facilities, swimming pools, group exercise classes, and even off-peak racket sports - along with five guest passes and access via the facility’s app.
Who can apply?
To qualify, applicants must:
• Be a member of a national squad, ranked in the top 50 for your sport and age group;
• Or be a member of a regional squad competing at regional level this year;
• Or have achieved a top-8 finish at a regional or equivalent competition in the last competitive season.
Required documentation must include a letter on letterhead from us, your National Governing Body. The programme is open to athletes with disabilities and sports recognised by Sport England or Sport Wales.
Eligible applicants must live within the local authority catchment area or within 10 miles of a participating Parkwood facility.
Key benefits include:
• Up to 12 months of free membership (with the option to re-apply for another 12 months if still eligible).
• Use of training-related facilities (not for casual recreation).
• Guest passes for friends or family.
• Opportunity to be featured in case studies and local promotions, and invited to meet the centre manager once approved.
How to apply:
1. Complete the online application form on LeisureCentre.com by clicking here (applications are reviewed monthly, with decisions typically within one month of submission).
2. Provide the supporting letter from WSF confirming your squad membership, ranking or results (please email us at admin@wsf.wales to request a letter).
3. Submit the application and supporting documents.

• Membership is non-transferable and may be revoked for inappropriate use.
• The programme expects membership holders to assist with local events and promotion efforts.
