Gromageddon is GO! The final stop of the Junior Surf Series called on for this weekend.
LBR have called ON the Gromageddon this Saturday (Nov 1st, 2025) at Langland Bay, Gower, Swansea.
Here's the info straight from the 'Zilla's mouth (or the LBR WhatsApp group if you please):
Following the GB Cup situation. The LBR have permission from the local authority to run this contest. Our local surfing community is aware of the contest and have been asked to respect the competitors. Langland is a busy surf beach, expect there to be others in the water. We want you all to feel welcome, and have fun. IF you experience anything negative in the water please let contest marshals know straight away. The main contest peak will be the ‘reef’ area, so the rest of the beach is accessible for free surfers. The reef is a mellow right and left cobble stone break, waves get steeper as the tide moves up over the reef. By finals time, the tide will be moving up toward high tide, where the waves will be faster and steeper over sand and some rocks.
Daylight hours and the number of heats we need to run means a tight schedule, with little room to deviate. All or some of the below is subject to change, please keep an eye on this competition WhatsApp group for latest info before and during the contest. If you forwarded this message, Join the chat here:

Information for competitors
• Langland Lifeguard Club have kindly allowed us to use their club house (Alma Road) as contest control – please respect the building/its contents. Typically, the shelter and low wall area at the bottom of Alma Road are where people tend to gather.
• A competitors briefing will take place 0730 in the contest control building. Be aware, the first heat of the day will start at 0800. Heats are 20 minutes long and will run back to back in blocks of 4, then a break before the next block of heats, this format will continue as the contest progresses.
• Heats will predominately be 4 surfers, with the top two progressing. Some categories might be straight finals with 4+ or less surfers.
• Please note, a block of heats might cover more than one category. For example, in the current schedule, the four heats in the block from 0950 to 1110 consists of two U12 Boys heats followed by the two U14 Boys semifinals. Keep an eye on the running schedule for any changes.
• A horn will sound to start the first heat in a block, after 15 minutes a flag will be raised to signal 5 minutes remaining of the heat, 5 minutes later a single horn blast will signal the end of the heat AND the start of the following heat. This flag/horn signaling will continue until the block of heats is completed.
• Organisers will not pause the running order/heats to wait for competitors. It is the competitors (their supporters) responsibility to check heat times, what colour vest they are, and be on the beach ready for their heats at least 5 minutes before their scheduled heat start time.
• Competitors collect their colour vest from the beach marshal AND return their vest immediately after their heat ends, place vests in the bucket with the marshal.
• Competitors can paddle out once the 5 minute remaining flag of the previous heat is raised, but must not catch a wave until the horn/flag signals the start of their heat.
• Heat results will be displayed on the whiteboard in contest control as soon as possible and shared via this WhatsApp group.
• Winners presentation will take place in the contest control building as soon as possible after the last final of the day.
Running order (subject to change), we’ll try to send heats the day before the contest.
