Men’s Shortboard - A Gritty Campaign
In the men’s open division, Wales got off to a flying start with all three athletes progressing from Round 1:
•Logan Nicol earned 2nd place in his heat with a 6.56 total.
•Eli Perrins-Davies also took 2nd with a massive 12.80 score.
•Patrick Langdon-Dark won his heat, also with a 12.80, mirroring Eli’s earlier total.
In Round 2:
•Logan progressed again with a 6.80,
•Eli dropped to the repechage after placing 3rd with 7.43,
•Patrick took another heat win with 10.73 to join Logan in Round 3.
Round 3 saw a Welsh head-to-head in Heat 2, but both athletes missed out:
•Logan placed 3rd with 7.80,
•Patrick 4th with 6.50,
sending both into the repechage.
Repechage action was tense:
•Eli bowed out in Repechage 2, placing 3rd with 8.23,
•Patrick advanced from Repechage 4 with a 10.77,
•Logan followed with a Repechage 4 heat win, scoring 10.70.
Repechage 5 saw Logan’s campaign end with a 3rd-place 6.17,
while Patrick advanced with 10.53.
In Repechage 6, Patrick shone again with 12.40 to reach Repechage 7 - one heat from the repechage final. Unfortunately, he placed 4th with 9.10, ending Wales’ men’s shortboard bid.

Longboard - Spirit, Style and Determination
In the longboard division, Wales was proudly represented by Amelia Dickinson and Evan Rogers.
Competing in her first-ever European contest, Amelia faced difficult conditions with a challenging shore break that didn’t suit traditional longboarding. She placed 3rd in her Round 1 heat with a 2.80 heat total - a result that, while not enough to progress, was actually higher than 13 other women’s longboard heat totals across the entire event. A strong showing, especially for a debut.
In Repechage 2, Amelia again took 3rd, bringing her campaign to a close. Despite not advancing, she secured 9th overall.
On the men’s side, Evan Rogers, team captain for Wales at EuroSurf 2025, faced adversity right from the start. A creased primary board in a free surf session forced him to compete on a backup that didn’t match the contest conditions. In Round 1, he finished 3rd with a 4.74.
But Evan turned things around in style in Repechage 1 - claiming a heat win with 6.84, maxing out his 15-wave limit, and even catching a barrel during the heat - a rare feat in longboarding! He was even asked to hold back from catching more waves due to his high activity.
In Repechage 2, Evan’s journey came to an end with a 3rd place and 5.74 heat total. His stylish and technical surfing was a joy to watch, and it leaves us all wondering - what could have been if he’d had his main board underfoot?

More Than Just Results
Beyond the scores and statistics, what truly defined Wales’ campaign was unity. This was a team in every sense of the word - a collective effort of surfers, all working together to showcase the strength of Welsh surfing on the European stage.
Special mention must go to Evan Rogers for his leadership as team captain, guiding and supporting his teammates in and out of the water with calm, maturity, and motivation throughout the event.
While Wales may not have brought home medals this time, the performances, progress, and passion on display suggest that it’s only a matter of time.
Diolch to all our athletes, support staff, families, and fans. Your dedication, belief, and love for Welsh surfing fuel our future.
