The 2025 Puravida MiPost Welsh Surfing National Championships Conclude in Style
After two weekends of high-performance surfing and vibrant community spirit, the 2025 Puravida MiPost Welsh Surfing National Championships have officially wrapped. Held across two of Wales’ most iconic surf breaks—Freshwater West and Llantwit Major—this year’s event was split into two parts due to early season conditions that made a single-weekend format unworkable.
Despite the logistical curveball, the split format allowed each division the opportunity to shine, culminating in some of the most memorable moments in recent Welsh surfing history.
Part 1 – Freshwater West – May 18th, 2025
The first leg of the Championships ran at Freshwater West, providing ideal conditions for the younger divisions and senior competitors.
Part 1 Champions:
Girls U14: Summer Marie Moore
Girls U16: Josie Hawke
Boys U14: Bryn Baker
Boys U16: Elijah Jones
Men’s Over 40: Lloyd Cole
Men’s Over 50: Greg Owen
Part 2 – Llantwit Major – June 7th & 8th, 2025
The final weekend of competition saw Wales’ elite surfers battle it out in pumping conditions at Llantwit Major—and the results did not disappoint.
In what many are calling the standout story of the Championships, Eli Perrins-Davies claimed his first-ever Men’s Open title, pulling off a massive upset against a stacked final lineup. Eli held his nerve to defeat reigning champion Logan Nicol, former champ and WSL QS standout Patrick Langdon-Dark (PLD), and newly returned title contender Seth Morris—all considered favourites heading into the event. A true breakthrough moment.
Meanwhile, Emily Williams continued to build on her legendary career by capturing her 10th Welsh title, including her first-ever Longboard title—a remarkable display of versatility and consistency at the top level.
Part 2 Champions:
Men’s Open: Eli Perrins-Davies
Women’s Open: Emily Williams
Men’s Longboard: Elliot Dudley
Women’s Longboard: Emily Williams
Men’s Senior: Craig Bright
Women’s Senior: Sindia Sosdian
Boys U18: Tomos O’Leary
Girls U18: Poppy Owen
Boys U18 Longboard: Elijah Jones
Girls U18 Longboard: Delphi Beck
Special Awards & Prizes
A huge thanks to Barti Rum, who once again backed the thrilling “Barti’s Wave of the Welsh” award—a £500 cash prize for the highest-scoring single wave across the Championships. After Harry Cromwell took home the honour in 2024, this year it went to Elliot Dudley, who posted a stunning 8.33 ride in the Men’s Longboard final to clinch the award.
Additionally, during the Freshwater West leg, BCRS Business Loans generously provided £500 in prize money, with £250 awarded to both the highest-scoring girls’ and boys’ waves—adding an extra layer of excitement and reward to the U14 and U16 divisions.
