Welsh surfers selected to represent Great Britain at 2025 ISA World Surfing Games
Welsh surfers, Patrick Langdon-Dark and Logan Nicol have been selected to compete for Great Britain at the 2025 ISA World Games (WSG) in El Salvador.
Hailing from Gowerton, Patrick Langdon-Dark represents Langland Board Riders at domestic level. He is joined on the men’s team by Channel Coast Surf Club’s Logan Nicol, from Cardiff.
Langdon-Dark, 25, and Nicol, 26, have been regular names on surfing’s professional circuit in recent years, both competing in Europe’s Qualifying Series events.
They are now with the British team acclimatising and preparing for the WSG in Central America. The athletes’ inclusion highlights the strength of surfing talent being developed here in Wales.
The WSG is set to take place in Surf City, El Salvador from 5th to 14th September. It is a key event in the global surfing calendar, with this year’s results critical to improving Team GB’s seeding for next year’s ISA event which holds the first opportunity to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

“It feels great to be on the team. I’ve done a couple of world games with Great Britain but this is my first since being on the new GB Surfing programme. I look forward to putting the work that myself and my coach have done into action.
“Preparations have been up and down; I’ve had a few results on the European tour that I’m not too happy with, but mentally and physically I’m ready to get after a result that I’ll be stoked with.
“I think if we can all get deep into the event with a few standout performances, we can get a good seeding and make our lives a little easier in the coming Olympic qualification years.”

“I’m absolutely buzzing to be selected for GB; it means so much. Obviously, you're representing Great Britain at a really high level and with the Olympics now in the mix, it means even more to be on that team. So, I’m really stoked to have these opportunities.
“Training's been good, although we've had a bit of a flat spell in Wales. It’s been a bit of a mad scramble to get myself together with such short notice after the Europeans and Boardmasters in Cornwall, so l've had three weeks to get myself sorted but really lucky the team down at Fourth Surfboards got me a wicked quiver of boards. I’m ready for the trip, and all my sponsors have been really supportive, helping me get all my gear ready.
“Success will come from the team effort. It’s not an Olympic year, but it’s obviously a massive opportunity for us to get a really good seed for future events. Obviously, we’ll be aiming to place as high as we can. Individually, it’s a really good test for me to be up against the guys who’ve been on the CT – some of the best surfers in the world. I’d like to make a few heats, and we’ll see how we go out there.”
The squad will be led by GB Surfing Head Coach Luke Dillon and Team Manager Gwen Spurlock, herself a former Welsh and GB international surfer.
