WSF Dates for the Diary in 2026

After a superb 2025 that saw our athletes make an impact on the national and international stage, it’s going to be another massive year for Welsh surfers.

Here’s what’s coming up:

AGM

The Welsh Surfing Federation Annual General Meeting takes place this year on Monday 9 March. All members of the Welsh Surfing Federation may participate, so it’s your chance to be a part of and contribute to the main topics of debate within the sport’s national governing body.

Stay tuned to Welsh socials for info on how to join.

The Welsh

The PuraVida MiPost Welsh National Surfing Championships are scheduled for Friday 27, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March, with Llantwit Major as the venue.

Backup dates are Friday 24, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April, also at Llantwit Major.

Last year was a frustrating one for The Welsh, with inconsistent swells forcing us to push back the contest dates on numerous occasions. But our dedicated team are nothing if not versatile and we got the job done in the end, with the Juniors and Men’s Seniors divisions being completed at Fresh West in May, followed by the remainder of the categories contested at Llantwit Major in June.

Welsh Nationals Finalised and Champions Crowned for 2025

What a cracker of a comp it was – Eli Perrins-Davies getting justly rewarded for all the work he’s been putting in and climbing to the top spot on the podium in the Men’s Open; he’ll be very keen to defend his crown in 2026.

Emily Williams won a nail-biting finale in the Women’s Open. The multiple Welsh champ has her work cut out in March if she’s to keep the title away from the abundance of talent coming through in the Women’s division.

It’s been an absolutely macking start to the year, as evidenced by the innumerable pics & edits dropping on social media. There’s little sign that the swell is going to let up, so fingers crossed The Welsh can be sewn up in timely fashion this year.

Remember, if the waves are a no-show in March, we’ve got those back-up dates 24-26 April at Llantwit.

One thing we can count on is the enduring support of our fantastic headline sponsors, PuraVida Boardriders and MiPost, so a big thank you goes to them both. Further sponsors will be announced shortly.

Wilkinson Sword

The Wilkinson Sword inter-club competition takes place at Whitesands Bay, Pembs where Pembrokeshire Surf Club will defend their title in a bid to make it a record four Wilky wins in a woah!

The swell pumped at Whitesands for last year’s comp, enabling all four competing clubs to showcase the very best of Welsh surfing for judges and spectators alike.

We’re looking forward to another huge contest this year. Don’t miss it!

Grom Training

Our Juniors Welsh coach, Phil Sadler has just got back from an uncharacteristically rainy Portugal, where he gave the U18s some expert tuition.

Phil will be running further training sessions for Welsh groms as the year progresses. He’ll be releasing details on an up-coming U14s training camp very soon, so stay tuned.

WSF Junior Surf Series

The inaugural Junior Surf Series was a resounding success in 2025, with fantastic grom comps being held at Coney, Whitesands, and Langland.

There was an amazing turnout for each of the events, great feedback from all involved, and of course, epic surfing. We’re definitely aiming to bring back the Junior Surf Series for 2026.

Provisional dates / contest windows are now being discussed, so expect an announcement on this in the coming weeks.

Get ready for another action packed year!
